Local Authority Search Network Limited Environmental Policy Statement
Local Authority Search Network (LASN) is a conveyancing search company concentrating on the provision of private Local Authority searches and due diligence search packs for conveyancing professionals used in property transactions, both residential and commercial. Based in Westhoughton, we occupy a part of the ground floor of a terraced office building. Our clients are mainly solicitors and licensed conveyancers.
LASN recognise that climate change is a serious global problem and consequently as a business we are committed to minimising our contribution to climate change.
Our main impacts are electrical lighting, gas central heating and computers. We use and produce paper documents and waste paper. We also use vehicles for business related travel.
The main key stakeholders we could influence are the landlords Direct House Ltd who share the same directors, the staff of other companies (who share the premises) and our clients and customers.
Objectives - By April 2013, our goals are to reduce our electricity use by 15% and recycle 25% of our waste. We will raise awareness within the company of the goals and communicate the goals and specific action points to employees. We will publicise our actions and results on our website and emails. We will work closely with our clients to encourage minimisation of printing and postage.
We will comply with all our legal obligations in carrying out the objectives in this plan.
It is our intention to put into effect continuous improvement by monitoring our achievements on a monthly basis and holding review meetings with all office staff every 2 months. Education and training will be an ongoing part of the programme.
In order to achieve the objectives we will first measure our current usage and then develop an action plan with specific, achievable and realistic targets for carbon reduction.
The directors of the company will review the policy and the action plan every 6 months.
We will allocate roles to specific staff members, a recycling manager and an energy manager will be appointed with the responsibility of achieving the company's objectives through education and monitoring of staff and taking measurement of the resources used.
We will hold a team meeting to discuss and launch the policy and the action plan, at the meeting we will appoint the recycling manager and the energy manager.
Once we have measured our usage we will be able to report the results of our environmental efforts at the review meetings.
Steven Davies, Director of the company is responsible for this policy and will introduce the policy, carrying out reviews from time to time. Implementation of the action plan will be lead by the Recycling Manager and the Energy Manager.
